Today's Thought

1st to 3rd September 2004

1st

Today not feel very good, why? Because too tired yesterday, I didn't finish all schenker studies hw meanwhile I have my 2nd attempt of German Language Exam!!! Quite annoying! Not only because of 2nd time but also due to the pk Prof suddenly changes the exam paper which make 30min delay.  I just think he is "playing".  New format: an article of 4 to 5 pages about Alfred Schnittke (the old format was 3 pieces of German text, Term from dictionary, lyrics from lieder and music history book)...Really want to leave, no mood to take the exam but anyway, I must sit and do sth on the answer book.  Let's see, this time how many can pass @_@  I hope i can but i really don't reach that standard.

Rushing to lunch with WWY and stay there to finish my hw....surprisingly, i just need a few mins to complete what i need to hand [that part finally scores all correct while the previous part did yesterday night got problems!!!]

Walk back for Schenker Studies, read a wrong question no. and answer sth irrelevant which scares my Prof @_@.

All things done and seem to have a breath for a short time rest.

3rd

A traditional tough Friday!

9:30 to 12:30 Film Music: Critical and Historical Approaches.  I learn a lot from the seminar, which contains total of 16 composition, theory and musicology students, very good time for knowledge and ideas exchange.  Really detailed discussion, which I think is needed when we discuss Film Music, but who care this in HK?  Sometimes ppl just go astray without knowing the object --- music.  Neither because my major is theory and i ask for music analysis, nor it is the requirement in musicology, which thru music to reflect the cultural aspect, even a Prof in CU would have this similar comment.

Now i just feel a bit scary as the course quite demanding for critical thinking and music response.

15-30 min rushing lunch then comes to another seminar: Survey History of Music Theory 2: from the late 17th Century to the World War II.  I love this class very much though it is extremely demanding again. ppl would take this seriously as a preparation for their future comprehensive exam (for PhD Candidacy) Though I can't study in ESM, but this seminar is taught by Prof R. Wason, who is from ESM!!!  You see, so good here!!!
